PRESENTATION BY THE MINISTRY OF ENERGY, MINES AND QUARRIES
The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries is responsible for implementing and monitoring the government's mining, quarrying and energy policy. As such, it is responsible for :
1. Mining and quarrying :
- career development strategies;
- the application of the mineral substances development policy ;
- the development of mining research ;
- applying geological and mining research policy and monitoring its implementation;
- promoting, coordinating, controlling and monitoring activities relating to the exploration, development and use of mineral resources;
- collecting and distributing technical documentation relating to the mineral industry;
- developing standards and monitoring their application;
- negotiating mining investment agreements between the State and mining companies;
- regulation and control of mining and geological research and exploitation activities ;
2. Energy :
- drawing up and applying legislation and regulations on the research, production, supply and distribution of energy products;
- creating, equipping and controlling energy infrastructures;
- monitoring the production, supply and distribution of conventional energy in conjunction with the Ministries responsible for the environment and water;
- promoting new and renewable energies;
- promoting energy savings.
