VACCINES AND HEALTH PRECAUTIONS
Burkina Faso is located in a tropical zone, so you will need to take preventive measures against malaria (e.g. Malarone). The yellow fever vaccine is compulsory for entering the country. Remember to bring your vaccination booklet with you, as you will be asked for it on arrival.
ARRIVAL IN OUAGADOUGOU
All international flights to Burkina Faso land at Ouagadougou international airport. Some hotels provide shuttle buses. If you wish to be picked up, taxis are available and very helpful. The cost can vary from 2,000 to 5,000 CFA francs, depending on the distance travelled and the time of arrival (day/night).
To ensure you arrive in the best possible conditions, we would ask you to send us your flight plans: arrival and departure times and the airline you are travelling with.
VISA
An entry visa for Burkina Faso is required for nationals of non-ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) countries.
People from ECOWAS member countries holding an identity card or passport can travel without a visa.
Visas can be obtained from Burkina Faso embassies and/or consulates in the country of residence.
The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries will send official letters of invitation to those who request them.
